NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming Neuro-Linguistic Programming is the science of excellence and the art of change. NLP is the study of how our mind and language affect our behavior. NLP is a very pragmatic “how to” technology that teaches us how to use our brain, language and physiology systematically to produce the desired results.Neuro-refers to the neurological system, the way we use our sense of sights, hearing, touch, taste and smell to translate our experience into thought processes. Linguistic-refers to the way we use language to make sense of our experience, and how language can influence our performance. Programming-refers to the way we organize our thoughts and behaviors in order to achieve a specific outcome. Our internal personal programming controls all of our external behaviors. Through the awareness of our personal programming we can master the structure of excellence NLP is essentially a model of excellence and achievement, simply “what works.” It is a set of guiding principles, attitudes, knowledge, skills and techniques. NLP is a discovery about how people think, communicate, feel, and act. It is a field that is constantly evolving, innovating, and developing. It offers tools for creating profound personal change and offers countless professional applications. The processes are elegant, powerful, and always practical. Back To TopHistory of NLP
NLP evolved in the early seventies by the work of 2 people: John Grinder, then as Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Richard Bandoleer, a student of psychology at the University. NLP is based on careful observations of highly effectively people. Both founders studied the three top psychotherapists of this century in great depth. They are: Milton Erickson, known as the Father of Modern Hypnotherapy, Virginia Astir, known as the Mother of Family System Therapy, and Fritz Perls, known as the Father of Gestalt Therapy.John and Richard identified a great many of the underlying patterns of behavior and communication that made these great therapists so effective in assisting people in changing their lives for the better. They used what they found to create a set of models of human skills and capabilities that is known to us as “Neuro-Linguistic Programming.” Essentially, NLP models are based on the modeling of human excellence; another person’s behavior can be duplicated by studying what that person does inside his mind to produce results. NLP is a field that is continually innovating and developing until today. Back To Top Why Learn NLP?
One of the very important aspects of NLP is to build, develop, and maintain rapport with others. Successful chairmen, presidents, managers, and executives generate rapport. However, most practice it intuitively or involuntarily. Only a scarce few understand what it is and still fewer, how to create it. In NLP, it shows us how these rapport skills can be learned and effectively applied to business. In business, as in life, where there is no rapport there is no sale.Any change in an organization must begin at the individual level. NLP is a profound tool for personal development. All executives and managers need to be able to take charge of themselves first, so they can utilize the wealth of information that must be continually processed. These strategies can then be passed onto employees, so that they too can experience a sense of belonging and commitment to the work they do.NLP offers some of the most powerful communication skills available. Much of our success in life depends on our ability to communicate effectively and as you can observe the highly successful professionals they are almost certainly a great communicator. The wealth of communication skills that NLP offers will show you how to be more congruent in your communications and thus become an effective communicator.Through using NLP techniques, your personal happiness and professional success will be much more consistent and predictable. Your effectiveness working with others will be dramatically increased, and your ability to empower yourself for optimum results will be augmented as well. You will be able to generate empowering emotional states within yourself at will, eliminate any negative emotions, change limiting beliefs, and inspire yourself with a compelling future that will have much better chances of success. The usefulness of NLP has attracted individuals from all walks of life to indulge for their own growth and development. Some professions using NLP include Salespeople, Business Executives, Managers, Entrepreneur, Lawyer, Teachers, Trainers, Consultants, Counselors, Doctors, Therapists, Hypnotherapists, Psychologists, Athletes, Entertainers and Performers, Parents and etc. Back To TopApplications of NLP in Business Organizations
Whilst NLP is a powerful tool for personal change, the potential benefits to business and organizations can be nothing less than phenomenal. Today, NLP is widely used in the business environment. The U.S. Army has proved the effectiveness of NLP in an organization. After employing an NLP consultant in 1986, the U.S. Army were able to reduce their small arms marksmanship training from 6 weeks to 3 days with no detrimental effect on the pass rate!NLP is already being used in the business context to gain significant improvements in the areas such as communication skills, sales performance, decision-making, presentation skills, motivation, state control, leadership skills, rapport skills, persuasion, motivation, goal- setting, and almost every other aspect that you can think of.Ask the average person on the street about NLP and he’ll say, “NL..what?” But here are a few surprises…

NASA uses NLP to design instrument panels.

The National Health Service in the United Kingdom uses NLP to improve patient care.

Businesses like Oracle, IBM, American Express, Apple Computer, Xerox, Merrill Lynch, Mercedes Benz, BMW, and many others use NLP to improve communication, build teams, and increase productivity.

A full list of who uses NLP would fill a book. At least. One thing is certain. In the last 30 years, its popularity has spread around the world.

More precisely, managers can use NLP tools to develop strong teamwork and relationships among members and also to foster positive interpersonal skills. Negotiations and problem solving sessions are enhanced to create solution-oriented, win-win approaches. Salespeople can employ NLP techniques to build deep levels of rapport, elicit and fulfill the criteria and values of clients, and develop effective methods for handling buyer’s remorse or future objections so the sales relationship is long-term and mutually satisfying. Human resource personnel can utilize NLP models for effective interviewing, hiring, training, and managing as well as for dealing with challenging learning environments. Directors can even apply the same powerful NLP tools and techniques on a macro level within the corporation so the whole organization will benefit. The NLP approach are also relevant for organizations that need to manage change or are experiencing high levels of stress.NLP techniques can help any organization to achieve, maintain, and enhance excellence. When employ in the business situations, NLP will help us to influence, persuade, and finalize any business deal with a quarter of the effort, in half the time, and with great positive results. Whether you are a salesman trying to be top producer, or a manager in line for big promotion, or a CEO who wants to have the cutting edge in leadership and negotiating skills, NLP offers a formidable business tool that will enable you to close that all-important sale, move up the organization, make your company its competitive best. The effectiveness of NLP has gained tremendous attention in the business community. Corporations have started to employ NLP tools to improve their organization performance. Some of the major organizations that have adopted NLP training include: IBM (Europe), Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, British Telecom, Cable and Wireless Marine, Fiat Corporation (Italy), BMW, Chase Manhattan Bank, Walt Disney Inc., US Air Force, Metropolitan Police (UK), The Tioxide Group, Motorola Corporation (USA), AT&T, U.S. Olympic Team and etc. Back To Top What Everyone Is Saying About NLP
